Let’s introduce to you one of our bookkeepers who definitely ups the վ badass score, Kate! Kate is our first choice of getaway driver and another one of our dazzling bookkeepers.
Kate is usually the first point of contact for her clients for day to day finance things. She delivers reports to help her clients make the best decisions, handles bookkeeping to free up their time, and manages payroll to make sure everyone is happy and paid. She’s joined us here in Victoria and we couldn’t be more excited to see her pop into the office.
If you’re curious about what makes Kate so cool and the one we’re throwing the keys to we’ll let her explain.
Tell us a bit about your work and school background
I started my career path in the oil field as a Well Tester where I learned I can push myself through just about anything that came my way.
From there I wanted to stay closer to home so I moved into retail management. There I learned I had a lot of skills in coaching and business analytics, but I fell in love with the business side and out of love with sales. I ran with that and moved into an administrative assistant position for an accounting firm.
Here I really learned about how accountants really help small business owners and fell in love with everything about it. I felt like if I could reach their level, then I’d have the power to do as much as I could to help and make a difference with small businesses.
What interested you about joining վ?
My first accounting firm was a bit dated, being a millennial and not being able to use technology in the workplace to increase efficiency grew increasingly frustrating. I came across վ and they were everything I’d imagined myself doing. Their focus on innovation, efficiency, and a strong passion for helping small business owners is rooted in our values. I had to be a part of it.
Other than fun times with spreadsheets and numbers, what activities do you enjoy in your spare time?
In my spare time I enjoy working on my drift car, currently a 1990 Mazda MX-5. I also enjoy spending time at the river up in Cowichan in the summer and riding my dirt bike when the weather is nice!

Many things – but I would say my sense of humour would be the strangest.
